Our London red bus team at Ash Grove in Hackney are celebrating a significant milestone on Saturday, with the start of our latest service – Route 26 - London red bus route.

We were awarded the route by Transport for London (TfL) after a successful tender process. The service runs from Waterloo Station to Hackney Wick, with up to 18 double deck vehicles during peak hours.

Route 26 represents three ‘firsts’ for HCT Group. It is our first red bus route operated entirely on diesel-electric hybrids – due to arrive this summer, it is our first route with a night bus element and it is also our single largest London route.

Welcoming the new service, Dai Powell, HCT Group Chief Executive, said “The new route is a testament to the combined effort of all staff involved in our red bus operation. Our continued drive for outstanding quality has proved to TfL that we can be entrusted with further work. It also shows that social enterprises can compete on a level playing field against multinationals and win.”
