Celebrating social impact in Leeds
HCT Group is a social enterprise, reinvesting the profits it makes from transport contracts back into high social impact transport services or projects in the communities we serve, including Leeds and Wakefield.
On the 22nd September, CT Plus Yorkshire and Leeds Alternative Transport with parent HCT Group, hosted our first local Social Impact Report launch in Leeds at the Arch Café – a fellow social enterprise. We were joined by local stakeholders, team members and service users to celebrate our Social Impact:
- 101 young people with special education needs trained to travel independently on public transport
- 27,792 passenger trips provided to members of community groups
- 6,489 trips for vulnerable, older or disabled people in our community cars
We heard from a number of speakers including HCT Group Chair Joyce Moseley and Dai Powell HCT Group CEO, who both talked about the stories behind our numbers. Perhaps most powerful though were the local voices: Jonathan Crawley, one of our 2015 Social Enterprise Champions and an independent travel trainer who talked about his personal experience helping young adults – and Anna, a travel-trained young adult whose life has been dramatically changed by gaining independence.
